I’m Leah, the human behind the machine (and most of the creations at Calico Clouds). I make it my mission, one stitch at a time, to bring colour and happiness to you and your little people.

My first ever blanket was made for a close friend who had a little boy. I wanted to give her a gift that was funky, organic and high quality – something to impress the new baby AND his yummy mummy! Much searching later, I was struggling to find the answer. That’s when I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I bought a second hand sewing machine from a sewing shop and some nautical fabric, and got to work.

After seeing my friend’s reaction (and her snuggle-icious baby in the blanket), I decided to keep sewing…

I care about what we wrap ourselves and our little people in. That’s why I take pride in sourcing organic fabric wherever possible. By using organic cotton I am able to have a positive impact on both the quality of the product and the environment. At the same time, much of our packaging is already recyclable and I am always striving to do better.

Alongside the core range of blankets – where it all began – Calico Clouds is also thrilled to offer a selection of other products that match our high standards. That’s why the popular dinosaur theme of some of our prints can now be found in a range of stunning ‘dino’ lamps for your little person’s bedroom (keep it a secret, but plenty of grown-ups like them too…).

Similarly, your baby may be at an age where the perfect accompaniment to one of our super-soft blankets is a carrot teething rattle – cute, practical and made from organic cotton, naturally. They are stuffed full of soft wool which is also bio-degradable.

With unique cards, designed and made by yours truly, Calico Clouds always looks to offer something memorable and different.
